You may be interested in sustainability or good environmental practices. You may want to work for an organisation which takes these things seriously. You will need to therefore think about the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) practices of the employers you are interested in. CSR includes a range of practices and activities, including giving to charity, linking products or services to particular causes, working with local communities and allowing employees to have time off to volunteer or carrying out sustainable practices in its business.
A recent report on current trends in New Zealand and Australia indicates that in difficult economic times organisations really need to continue to integrate CSR practices and that employees want to go and work or will stay with those organisations who are driving initiatives forward in this area.
