Last night I went to the launch of some great research by Drs Carolyn Cordery and Karen Smith of the Faculty of Commerce and Administration. If you are interested in a career in the not for profit sector this will be useful to look at. Managers Matter: who manages New Zealand’s volunteers?
(A full version of the report can be downloaded from http://www.victoria.ac.nz/fca/research-services/volunteer-management-research.aspx).

This report was launched during Volunteering Awareness Week.

Managers of Volunteers really do matter! This research is one small step in increasing the support for people who manage volunteers. A working group, established under the auspices of Volunteering New Zealand, is seeking to raise awareness of the importance of quality management of volunteer programmes and investigating the development of educational pathways, learning opportunities and support for the diverse group of people who manage volunteers in New Zealand. The Volunteering New Zealand website and VNZ Update are the best ways to receive news on this work and to provide feedback.
