  1. Hi,

As a member of the Victoria Alumni community working in Philips (#23 on this list), here are some tips about what my employer looks for in potential grads:
    – Flexibility to change (adaptability and openness of approach)
    – Proofpoints of how you have invested in yourself and your development (eg. overseas travel experience)

With regards specifically to Marketing, experience in an FMCG or consulting company will also hold you in good stead. Kiwis (and Aussies) are generally seen also to have an innovative, out-of-the-box kind of thinking that challenges existing “sacred cows”, and this works particularly well in Marketing Communications, where boundaries need to be stretched.

Kiwis in general have a very good self-starter reputation: hard workers, team-players, ambitious, goal-focussed, independent and autonomous, straight-talking and thinking. These are trailts that generally all come across very well.

    • Hi Nicholas, thank you for your insightful comment, keep it coming, it’s always great to hear from our Alumni in the workforce 🙂
