The first-ever NZ Student Volunteer Week is happening now! The nationwide celebration of student volunteers is all about celebrating volunteering, thanking students who volunteer and encouraging other students to get involved. Without student volunteers on campus, many services, organisations and clubs would not exist. At Victoria, students give their time and energy to many different roles; from Student Representatives, Club Executives and Student Leaders to supporting other students as Mentors, Buddies and Note-takers. Many students also volunteer in the Wellington community with a huge range of not-for-profit and charitable organisations. Our students tell us that volunteering helps them connect to their community, meet people, build networks and gain valuable skills. They enjoy giving back, challenging themselves and taking opportunities to enhance their degree.
To gain recognition for your volunteering and develop your employability skills, have a look at Victoria Plus, the university’s service and leadership development programme. If you are just starting out or want to get involved in volunteering be inspired by our Student Volunteer Stories or come along to the Campus Volunteer Expo on Wednesday 9th September.
Victoria Careers and Victoria Plus would like to thank all the fantastic student volunteers who have helped us deliver our services to students. Thanks!
