Gen Y’s expectations for ethics at work in NZ
Earlier this year Hege Oevreboe completed her Masters Thesis in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations at Victoria University of Wellington. Her thesis explores young Generation Y’s expectations of ethics at work in New Zealand.
Hege’s research revealed three distinctive sets of values or typologies in relation to ethics at work: The Achiever, The Ethical Employee and The Public Conservationist. The table below provides a brief overview of these typologies.
Do one of these typologies resonate for you? Or for someone you work with?
And what do changes in generational expectations of work mean for the workplace?
If you’re interested to find out more you can read a short overview of Hege’s research, her full thesis or an article published on Newsroom.
Careers and Employment would like to thank Hege Oevreboe for sharing her research with our team and allowing us to re-present her work in this blog.
